2nd place in the “Leader of accessibility of priority industries” competition

The Periodic Table of the Elements with Braille inscriptions took 2nd place in the “Leader in the accessibility of priority industries” competition organized by the Ministry of Development and Technology.

Accessibility is extremely important to us. We are proud and happy that our device has been recognized and awarded in such a prestigious competition.

How did the Periodic Table of the Elements with Braille subtitles come about?

We were commissioned to build an outdoor periodic table of the elements that children could use all year round. Our team divided the tasks among themselves:

  • Maciek took care of the technical side and the project.
  • Kamila was assigned to customer service.
  • Ela and Renia collaborated on the concept and developed the graphics.
  • Our reliable production team assembled, packed and shipped everything to the customer.

A very important task was to find a printing house that would produce and deliver Braille subtitles. We needed prints that would be resistant to weather conditions and, above all, correct. During the design stage, we learned that even a small difference in 3D printing can make the inscriptions unreadable for blind and visually impaired people.

The project concept also included adding QR codes to each element. We placed them on each cube, thanks to which we significantly expanded the educational capabilities of the device.

How long did it take to work on such a large project?

We used about 20 m of steel to make the structure. Approximately 480 hours passed from placing the order to installation. We estimate that we spent nearly 10 man-hours on quality control. Marcin from the production department carefully looked at the plates (118 of them!) and the structure, and Renia checked the content and correctness of the QR codes that we placed next to each element.

What are the dimensions of the device?

The Periodic Table of the Elements with inscriptions in Braille has the following dimensions:

  • Width: 393 cm
  • Height: 175 cm

It consists of 118 four-sided, movable dice (i.e. it has 472 tablets).
