Chinese whispers

The game of “silent phone” is one of the most popular children’s games. Over the years, it has played a very important role in the development of children: it improved their communication skills and brought game participants closer together. Moreover, it shows children in a practical way how information processed by many people changes , i.e. it teaches them what gossip is.   

How to have fun? All you need is two people to stand at two different devices. The game involves whispering various messages to each other. The tubes are waveguides that direct the transmitted waves to the receivers, i.e. our ears.

After such fun, children can make their own communicators from a cup and string.

Group play option

Play “gossip” with the whole group. Divide into two teams. Each one lines up for a different tube. The first person from team A comes up with a rumor and tells it to the person from team B. Beware! He can only repeat it once! The first person gives up their seat at the device to the friend who is next in line. Now the person from team B repeats the gossip to team A. You keep having fun until each of you hears and repeats the gossip. Finally, we ask the first person who came up with it to say it out loud, and then the last person says what they came up with. Are you surprised how much it has changed?
