The periscope is a fascinating optical tool that allows us to look at the world in an extraordinary way. Thanks to this device, we can see objects that are beyond our view, for example behind obstacles or in hard-to-reach places.

How does it work?

The periscope consists of two flat mirrors, set at appropriate angles. When we look through the lower window, we see light reflected from the mirrors. The light passes through both mirrors and reaches our eyes. This is how the apparent image we see is created.

Here’s one fun option:

  • Look into the lower periscope window. Then try to rotate the periscope. What impressions do you have during the observation? Now it’s time to test your perceptiveness.
  • Look through the device and look for 10 things that are green. Did you make it?
  • Now look for 3 things that are made of plastic.
  • Finally, let’s test your ecological knowledge. Can you find one thing that is recyclable?

WHAT IS DIFFERENT ABOUT PERISCOPE?

  • Periscope is a tool that arouses curiosity and encourages you to discover new things. Children (and not only them!) can use the periscope to explore the surrounding world, observe animals, birds, landscapes, etc. This develops their observational and nature skills.
  • The device allows us to see places that we cannot reach on our own . We can look at objects and the environment behind obstacles or in hard-to-reach places, for example behind a wall or over a fence.
  • Stimulates imagination and creativity . Children can pretend to be detectives, researchers or pirates, discovering treasures and solving puzzles using the periscope. This encourages creative play and develops the ability to fictionalize .
  • Using a periscope provides knowledge of the basic principles of optics and light reflection . Children can learn how mirrors work and how light reflects from surfaces, and at the same time they can observe it with their own eyes.
  • Observing through a periscope requires focus and attention to detail. This is an excellent exercise for developing the ability to concentrate and focus on the observed objects.
WHAT DOES EXPERIMENTING IN THE GARDEN DO?
All year round Better immunity
The devices can be used all year round, regardless of the weather – they do not deteriorate in contact with moisture.  Carrying out outdoor activities strengthens children’s immunity.
Education and therapy Innovation
Experimenting in the garden is a brilliant way to conduct interesting activities that break the monotony.  Scientific devices introduce new elements into the life of the kindergarten and distinguish them from other facilities, becoming an innovation.
